Now, the legendary cumbia group presents “Cumbia del Corazón” alongside Carlos Vives, who brings all his Colombian rhythm to the Joss Favela penned single.
“I am extremely happy to be in this song and to record the video with Los Ángeles Azules in my country, Colombia. This “Cumbia del Corazón” has rhythms from both countries, creating the perfect mix to become a classic.”, says Carlos Vives.
Produced by Rodolfo Lugo and Jorge Mejía-Avante, the single comes with a music video recorded at the La Piel Roja tavern in Bogotá and directed by Christian Schmid Rincón. From the initial few seconds, vibrant colors dominate the scene, warmly inviting viewers to the dance floor.
“We were really seeking a collaboration in Colombia as we were wishing to be present in the country’s cumbia scene. We had great chemistry with Carlos Vives, and this song has that connection between Mexico and South America that will reach every corner in the world” comments Elías Mejía, leader of the group.
Hailing from Iztapalapa, Los Ángeles Azules are Mexican cumbia’s most important group. With their video “Nunca es Suficiente” feat. Natalia Lafourcade, it became the first Mexican group to enter YouTube’s prestigious Billion Views Club. The video for «Mis Sentimientos» featuring Ximena Sariñana has also reached over one billion views, making Los Angeles Azules the only Mexican group to have two videos surpassing the billion-view mark on YouTube.
Released last November, “Otra Noche” Feat. Nicki Nicole became the most streamed single within its first 80 days in the history of the group. It currently amasses more than 78 million streams and more than 100 million views on YouTube.
The Mejía-Avante siblings continue their international tour that has taken them to sell out stages in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Paraguay, including 2 shows in Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional and 5 consecutive SOLD OUT shows at Buenos Aires’ legendary Luna Park.
Los Ángeles Azules now prepare to kick off their next tour, De Iztapalapa para el Mundo, in the United States.
